KINGS POINT COMPUTER CLUB MEETING MINUTES MARCH 6th, 2012
CLICK HERE TO SEND THIS PAGE TO A FRIEND
Our Meeting this month was with Pamela Tabak,
Computer Tutor, Webmaster, Technician and Author from Toronto, Canada, via
the Internet.
We had guests Bill from “Valencia Falls” and Lou from “Huntington Lakes” who
joined us to enjoy and behold the benefits of being able to take part in a
presentation, conversation and Q & A via the Internet with Pamela.
Pamela generously offered us the sequel to her book “Computer Tips for
Seniors FIRST EDITION.” Jerry was pleased to accept this wonderful offer of
the SECOND EDITION which will be in 12 monthly segments. The first three
segments are already posted on the Kings Point Computer Club website for you
to print and keep in a binder. A detailed index will be posted in the last
segment which will be published in December 2012.
If you collect all 12 segments and pictorial
tutorials you will have an up-to-date set of computer information, in
plain English, when you most need it. Keep it next to your computer for
fast reference.
Pamela suggests that we only keep the files and folders that we are
using and save old files on an external drive. After each part of her
Presentation she answered questions about:
Computer Maintenance which is most important to keep your
computer healthy. Click on the link to print and follow
step-by-step to avoid a computer crash.
Many members had questions on how:
To Save, Organize and Transfer Favorites to Another Computer so
Pamela explained this in detail and then posted the tutorial on the KPCC
website. Click on the link then print and follow step-by-step.
The KPCC members had many questions to ask Pamela so the time ran out
before she could explain
Safe Downloads therefore Pamela only had time to advise the
members that she would post the information on the KPCC website along
with the other files. Click on the link then print and follow
step-by-step to make sure that you “Never lose another Downloaded file.”
Other Points to note: Only install and run one Antivirus program
and run a full scan regularly.
Always make a “Restore Point” before you install a new program or
download software from the internet in case the software malfunctions;
then it is easy to remove in its entirety.
Be sure to attend OUR LUNCHEON ON TUESDAY MARCH 20TH, 2012 at 12:00

All who wish to attend must respond to us at
jerryphyllisf(at)comcast.net ( my email address

make the reservations so that no one is disappointed. You may bring your

A note to all: Our V.P. Les Hallock while on a trip became ill
and has been in hospital where he underwent two consecutive surgeries.
We wish him well and hope sincerely that he has a quick and uneventful
recovery and will be back with us soon.
Regards, Jerry
Respectfully submitted, Phyllis Frank, Secretary
